Who We Are
Katy Girls Lacrosse began practicing in September 2007. Katy Girls Lacrosse was
initiated to fill a gap in girls' sports in the Katy area by Mike Jones, one of the three
coaches of the Taylor High School boys lacrosse varsity and junior varsity teams. Our
coach/trainer is Anya Marmuscak, and our organizer is Liz Jones.
The name, Katy Valkyries, was chosen to reflect the awesome name of the Cy Fair girls'
lacrosse teams, the Iron Maidens. Valkyries were mythical Norse warrior women known for
carrying the souls of the worthy dead on their winged horses from the battlefield to
Valhalla.
This is a picture of some of our Firethorne Summer League 2008 participants in their hot
pink/navy Katy Valkyries reversibles.
About Katy Valkyries Girls Lacrosse
The Katy Valkyries entered the Katy Rice Harvest Festival Parade on October 4, 2008 and won a First Prize Ribbon for our float and high energy players who were actively recruiting new players. Thanks to our sponsors, the Moore family! You are awesome!
